Research Interests: Reasoning about Uncertainty
I am interested in approaches to dealing with uncertainty with an emphasis
on principled and computationally effective approaches. I am working on
two (related) topics:
Inference and learning in probabilistic models: Work on representation,
inference, and learning with Bayesian networks and related representations,
with applications to concept learning, data mining.
Computational Biology: Applying probabilistic models to understand
biological systems and to analyze data collected from biological sources,
such as protein and DNA sequences.
I am a program co-chair of UAI 2002.
I am heading an energetic group with a focus on molecular biology and
