Multiple files created for a single Tournament can have game results merged into a single file using the “Merge Files...” command in the File Menu. each file for merging must have the same tournament setup (question value, bonus conversion, etc.). The team list for each merge file should be identical - same number of teams and teams in the same order. Each corresponding team entry must have: a) same name, b) same division, if using divisions, c) same number of players, d) players listed in same order and e) each corresponding player name spelling the same. The “Merge Files...” command will verify this before doing the merge.
NOTES:
- One of the merge files may contain extra teams as long as the extra team entries are at the end of the list.
- If the division a team is assigned to changes - as is sometimes the case between preliminary matches and final matches, make sure
the team’s division assignments are the same for all files to be merged.
- The contents of the second file is merged into the first file. If the first file needs to be kept in it pre-merge state, duplicate
the file before doing the merge and use the copy as the first file of the command.
- The Merge Files command is only able to merge two (2) tournament files at a time. If more than two files need to be merged, the command
should be used repeatedly.
To merge tournament files, start by opening the tournament files to be merged.
Select a tournament (make it the front window) to be the “Base Tournament”. As the name suggests, this is the tournament that the merge file must match (for setup and team list) and will contain the merged game entries.
Invoke the “Merge Files...” command. This will put up a dialog window. The dialog window names the “Base Tournament” and has a list of tournament files matching currently open tournaments. Select the file for merging and click “Merge” button. The dialog will close and the games in the selected file will be merged into the “Base Tournament”.
Newly merged game results will appear after the game results for the “Base Tournament”. The game sorting option can be used to re-order the combined game results.
