Background

I am currently the CTO of Ojos, Inc. , a photo company that will change the way that we view, process, search and aggregate photographs. Previously, I was architecturing computer vision algorithms for a start-up company called Canesta, Inc.. I had a chance to invent several algorithms regarding tracking, detection and recognition of objects and faces, as well as algorithms to realize virtual keyboard, and virtual ruler products. I got my PhD in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in 2002. I received my Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in April 2001.  I graduated  from Bogazici University, Turkey, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (1999). I have been researching, publishing/patenting computer vision and image processing related work since 1996. My current desire is to bring everybody's attention to this field by introducing breakthrough products to humanity.

Research

My team and I currently focus on inventing and applying face and text recognition technologies to consumer photographs.

While I was at Stanford, I was a member of the Stanford Vision Laboratory.  I used to conduct research under the supervision of Prof Carlo Tomasi in the areas of shape analysis, computer aided diagnosis on medical images, stereo and monocular tracking of faces, and various recognition tasks based on computer vision related features. I also collaborated with Prof. Sandy Napel and Prof. Chris Beaulieu from the department of radiology.

Research Projects

The following links give a detailed description of my Stanford projects. Please have a look at my published papers/patent applications regarding my interests post Stanford.

A Survey on Shape Analysis

Medical Image Compression
