Opening for PhD/Postdoc/Visiting Scholar positions in Artificial Intelligence at UCSD

Applications are invited for multiple PhD/Postdoc/Visiting Scholar positions working with Professor Hao Su at University of California San Diego (UCSD) in deep learning for computer vision, computer graphics, and robotics. Research topics could be one of the following:

PhD student positions will be available in September, 2018; Postdoc and Visiting Scholar positions will be available from January, 2018. High dedication to research activity is expected for visiting scholars. Hired researchers will be part of Contextual Robotics Institute and Center for Visual Computing with many collaborative opportunities within and across disciplines.

Professor Su is interested in fundamental problems in broad disciplines related to artificial intelligence, including machine learning, computer vision, computer graphics, robotics. He is particularly interested in deep learning for 3D data understanding. He is leading the construction of ShapeNet, a large-scale 3D-centric knowledge base of objects, and used to work on ImageNet, a large-scale 2D image database. He also pioneers architecture design for 3D deep learning algorithms. Successful applicants will have extensive research experience, an excellent publication record in one or more of the research areas above (not mandatory for undergraduate applicants), creativity, and strong communication, experimentation, and coding skills.
