Cattle groups at a well:

Several groups of skinny oxen, sheep, and goats, each under the control of its herder, were taking turns to drink in a well organized way.

The well:

There was little water in the well and one had to collect it using a small pot. Water for animals was poured into separate troughs.

Filling jerrycans:

Due to the small flow of water in the well, this is a tedious, time-consuming operation.
