Panama (March 2018): Boquete Trails and Butterflies

Boquete is a pleasant small town at an elevation of 1200m in the northern hills of the Chiriqui province. It is dominated by Volcan Baru (3475m), the tallest mountain in Panama. There are several good trails near town for hikes ranging from a couple of hours to 5-6 hours.

 

Quetzales trail:

 

This may be the longest trail around Boquete. It ends in Cerro Punta, where some transportation is required to return to Boquete. From the start in Boquete I only hiked to a spot called El Mirador Rocas and then backtracked to the trailhead. The following pictures are a sample of what can be seen along the trail, but are not in chronological orders.
