my dad, pedrito maynard-reid, is a professor of theology at walla walla university. my mom, violet maynard-reid, boasts more talents than i can list, including home decorating, home appraisal, library science, and culinary art. my favorite (and, yes, only) sister, natasha maynard-pemba, earned her phd in psychology at arizona state university. she, her husband evans, and their daughter mayamiko live in gainesville, florida, where she works as a clinical assistant professor in the counseling center at the university of florida.
