The aim is to support the presentation of some principal special topics of current interest in the coordination with MFCS'98 devoted to broad computer-science interest. The workshop is organized by the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University in Brno in cooperation with RWTH Aachen. Topics: All algorithmical and complexity aspects of communication on any level of information processing are of interest. The workshop focuses especially on: - communication complexity of two-party and multiparty protocols - communication algorithms in networks (routing, gossiping, broadcasting) - interactive protocols and zero-knowledge proofs - cryptography The extended abstract (about 10 pages) of the accepted papers will be published in the proceedings of the workshop. Program Committee: M. Dietzfelbinger (Dortmund), P. Duris (Bratislava), J. Hromkovic, chair (Aachen), R. Klasing (Warwick), A. Liestman (Burnaby), A. Pelc (Hull), G. Schnitger (Frankfurt), J. Sgall (Prague), W. Unger (Paderborn) Submission Guidelines: Contributions should be submitted either electronically by e-mailing a postscript file to: comm@i1.informatik.rwth-aachen.de or as hardcopy to: Contact person: Juraj Hromkovic Dept. of Informatics I (Algorithms and Complexity) RWTH Aachen Ahornstr. 55 D-52074 Aachen. A simultaneous submission of the papers to MFCS'98 is welcome. The authors should note on their contributions whether the paper has been submitted to MFCS'98 or not. If a contribution is accepted for MFCS'98, then it will be presented on MFCS'98 only (in time disjoint with the lectures of the work- shop). Important dates: Submission deadline: March 20, 1998 Notification of acceptance: May 29, 1998. The conference fee of MFCS'98 covers the participation on the workshop. A special reduced fee for workshop participants will be possible.
