Old part of
the city overlooking the Douro river, seen from the
south extremity of the Dom Luis I bridge (partially visible on the right of the
first photo below). Porto sits on the north (right) bank of the river.

Rabelo boats by the north riverside of the Douro. In the
past these flat-bottomed boats were used to carry wine (as well as people and
other goods) along the river. Today they stand still as advertisements for
various brands of Port wine.
