Philip Lipu Tsai. "Tsai Lipu" is my Chinese name. The last two syllables of "Philip" in Chinese sound exactly the same as "Lipu," so it has long been my nickname (besides, Philips is a popular household brandname in Taiwan). I recently found out that "Lipu" actually means something in Italian -- do a search on your popular search engine and you will find out what I mean (http://www.lipu.it has been reserved in honor of this name. Thank you, Italy!). I came from Taiwan -- grew up early in the serene South and grabbed later by the academic North before someone found out that I needed some more character-building and world-view training during my adolescent years: unplugged me from CKHS, flew me across the Pacific Ocean, placed me in the midst of Eastern and Western cultures, and saw me calming down the tsunami that ensued and coming through the two blues that meet in the far horizon, forming my own line of light. I stayed as a bear in California during college years. Decided to pursue the artsy freedom I found in Computer Science and stay for the trees during my graduate years. I've been to:
