Sulawesi: From Gimpu to Masamba via Bada valley (June
1994)
Return to my mountaineering/trekking/travel webpage
These are some photos of a
hiking trip I made to Sulawesi in June 1994, following a trip
to Irian Jaya (now Papua). I first flew from Ujung Pandang (now renamed
Makassar) to Palu on the central west coast of
Sulawesi, where I took a bus to Gimpu. From Gimpu, I trekked south to the Bada
valley (famous for its megaliths) and from there further south to the main road
near Masamba, north of Palopo.
Some megaliths in Bada valley.
