Traverse of Central and Eastern Nepal (2011)
Leg 10: From Keronja to Shyabru Besi (March 30 - April 3)
From Keronja
we climbed to and followed a series of steep ridges to eventually reach Tham Bhanjyang pass (~3200 m). We hiked down from this pass to the village of Lapagaun. We then trekked through the villages of Borang, Sertung, and Tiplingaun, before crossing Pansang,
Khurpudanpa, and Ronga Bhanjyang passes, and hiking down to the small town of Shyabru Besi on Bhote Koshi (river). Although we
never went to high elevation (the highest point was Pansang
pass at 3850m), this itinerary across Ganesh Himal
has many steep ups and downs. The region feels quite remote. We met no other
trekkers or climbers, except a team of American doctors from Himalayan HealthCare, Inc.,
which were offering free medical assistance in several villages.
