haptic device

Developed and commercialized by Force Dimension, the OMEGA haptic device is a robust and compact interface solution for high-end haptics applications. This system was introduced on the market in 2004 and was the first high-end haptic device to support the USB protocol. Several types of custom end-effector extensions such as a stylus and a force gripper with up to 7 degrees-of-freedom have been developed making it today an extremely versatile force-feedback device .

The OMEGA haptic device was later selected as the main master input device for the Sensei robotic catheter system from Hansen Medical. In 2005, from a pool of over two thousand products, the OMEGA haptic device received the prestigious Annual I.D Magazine Award for its original design.
